Heal first.

Hello old friends, new followers, and fellow bloggers-

It’s Monday which means if you’re highly motivated like me, you’ve planned the rest of your week.  I started the day thinking of my daily affirmations, and then it was time to get up and dressed for the day.  As I met each appointment, I barely had time to eat because there was so much to do.  I had a thought about my to-do list and I realized that if I wasn’t whole, then all of my accomplishments would be in vain. First things first, heal.

We live in a world that hates the process.  If we can get what we want quickly or easily, we’ll bypass what is good for what is mediocre because of our own laziness. How beautiful would it be to enjoy our accomplishments from a place of wholeness? I think it’s one thing to go for the gold and it’s another to hold on to what we’ve gained.  Wholeness gives us the capacity to hold onto what we have accomplished. Before we aspire to be known or to leave our mark the world, let’s become whole.

Have you ever met a person of influence who was full of emotional wounds? They have everything:  the dream job, the dream house, and dream car but are so broken on the inside.  These individuals have so many people around them yet still feel alone.  These individuals have all of the accolades yet are bound by substances such as drugs and alcohol.  Have you ever met someone who was one scandal away from losing everything they have worked hard for?  I have met so many intelligent, creative and beautiful broken people who have lost so much because they were not whole. I don’t believe it is the heart of God that we live in perpetual brokenness.  We should live with our hearts broken towards him in a continual state of humility but we do not have to live in emotional turmoil.  Jesus still heals and he desires that we enjoy the wholeness he so readily provides.

If I can encourage you to aspire to be anything, be whole.  Take time this week to prioritize healing, for things will fade but your soul will last forever.  Let’s face our dysfunction with courage knowing that we are allowed to be works in progress refined through the power of Jesus and therapy. It’s okay to be a hot mess but it is not okay to stay there.  The grace of God empowers us to become the best versions of ourselves and Jesus has given us the grace to heal.

If you have any questions or just need someone to talk to, feel free to email me at authenticlove789@gmail.com.  I’m here for you guys, I’m praying for y’all, and I believe that you were created to live emotionally healed.  Have a great week!

Xoxo,

Simone

25: Life Updates, Goals and Other Musings

Hello old friends, new followers, and fellow bloggers-

WELCOME to Authentic Love: God, Relationships, and Life!  This is our first post of 2018, and I thought it should consist of some life updates, goals, and other musings rolling around in this brilliant noggin of mine.

OK, let’s get started!

First, I am officially 25 years old! I celebrated a birthday last Thursday.  Oh My Gosh, I feel so old!  Ancient.  I can’t really explain the feeling but it’s like I’m more aware of 30 being around the corner than a year ago.  I felt a light bulb switch within me, where my concern is more about becoming settled within so that I can create a legacy for the generation to come.  My concern is now more about my influence rather than my inadequacies and my excuses for why I can’t be great are dwindling one by one.   I believe that this year is going to be one of change for me.  No longer will I hide behind fear and inward brokenness, I have given myself the permission to be my God-created self, clothed in transparency and truth.

Second, like every year, I have mapped out a few goals for this year. Here they are:

  • #1- To settle into who I am.  I have spent so many years, explaining why I am “this particular” person, that I have lost time appreciating, valuing and thriving within my difference.  It’s a goal of mine to take time this year to value me.  When you’ve spent so many years devaluing yourself, it’s like a culture shock to actually come to a place of genuine, pure self-love. I was the person that had a love for everyone else, but herself and that pattern to downplay what’s on the inside is being destroyed this year.
  • #2-To stop apologizing.  Like many, I suffered from people-pleasing tendencies, apologizing for things said and done.  However, I am no longer apologizing for other’s preferences on who I should be, how I should speak, how I should address things and etc.  This year is one of OFFENSE: oh well, if one doesn’t like the heat, they should stay out of the kitchen.  A lot of people confuse, Christianity’s requirement to love to equate being a pushover and doormat- subjected to the opinions of others, but Christ was neither.  He loved well and spoke his mind.  He threw shade like a sport, called the Pharisees vipers and threw over tables in the temple.  He had no problem being passionate, reckless and even offensive because, at the end of the day, He stuck to his beliefs without apology. Ultimately, in life, ©©© I strive to be like Him!
  • #3- To build this brand/grow this audience.  I think that growth is very important and that this blog is made to be bigger than what it is.  I’ve been lazy and super complacent out of fear, like what if I pour my heart into this next phase of the blog and it still fails, but I’ve already failed by not trying.  So this year, I’m going to take some risks with this blog. (HOLD ME ACCOUNTABLE- YOU ALL ARE FREE TO CALL ME OUT!) For real, I want to do more in my interaction with each of you. Please feel free to email me your suggestions:  Should I post more?  Should I post more dating articles? Should I share more personal stories?  Poetry or prose?  Let me know! (Click on the Wanna Contact Me page and reach me there!)
  • #4- To rebuild significant relationships.  Keyword: significant.  I’m not striving for trash-filled/toxic people to return, but I am open to mending fences with healthy relationships that may have evolved due to various circumstances.  I think mending, forgiveness, and restoration are VERY important and these are things I am willing to do.
  • #5- To share my gifts with the world.  I think I’ve allowed intimidation and insecurities to stall me for too long.  Like I’ve equated the value of my gift with the success of someone else’s and that is not the mindset to have.  My gift and it’s potential to thrive has nothing to do with anyone else and therefore, it would a great injustice to live life intimidated to the point that I don’t produce.  It’s time to come out of the shadows and to thrive.

Lastly, here are several musings that were bouncing around the ole noggin waiting for an opportunity to be set free into the world, willing to be shared with each of you:

  • You are enough. Period.
  • You are allowed to be different.  Again, drops mic *
  • Who you are is just as significant as anyone else.
  • You don’t have to live in sadness.  I’ve believed the opposite for way too long, it’s time to live in the freedom that is joy
  • Your past has nothing to do with your future.  For real, NOTHING!
  • God still loves you.  I promise you, He does…
  • Change is good, in fact, change sometimes is BETTER.

Well…it’s been real! ✌️

Until next time,

Simone 💋

The Wanderlust List

Hello old friends, new followers and fellow bloggers-

Lo, I am filled with wan•der•lustthis intense desire to travel, see and enjoy the world created for us.  I was thinking last night that time is so fragile and after some close reflection, I’ve realized that there is so much more to see and experience.  Think about it, how have you experienced the days given you?  Being a Christian is not supposed to be boring or void of adventure, in all actuality- it should be the complete opposite.  Loving God is an adventure…

SO… I’ve prayed and thought closely about how I wanted to remedy my “situation” and I landed on a goal list- my wanderlust list.  My wanderlust list is simply a list of places that I desire to travel to with prices for flights, lodging and activities that I wish to experience there.  It’s a little more than a bucket list but rather a list of short-term goals that I intend to bring into reality.  For example: I desire to dance in the Piazza Navona (town square in Rome), sip coffee with a french pastry at Cafè de Paris (eatery in Paris France) , and to shop within the Bulevard Rosa (shopping mall in Barcelona, Spain).  These are my plans, to see the world in all of its beauty…

So why now???  Well, I would counter that with why not now?  What do we have to lose by going for what we desire?  What is there to be afraid of?  NOTHING!!!! Absolutely nothing.  I think that God desires for us to go beyond where we are, to see more than what we have already seen, and to strive for something bigger than us. You know friends, I’ve come to this place in my life where I am no longer settling for the same thing year in and year out.  Don’t get me wrong, my life has been amazing thus far and I am extremely blessed- but there is so much more!  There is so much wonder to experience and so much more love to share.  I believe that God desires that we release the limitations off of our lives and experience more – he wants more for us!

Well… would you guys like to join me in this movement of breaking limitations, in going after the more?  If so, make your own list.  Maybe yours is not centered around travel or experiences but rather a personal goal list for your business, or maybe a list of doing those things you were afraid of (mines: sailing – too much water lol)- whatever your list is, write it down and commit to fulfilling each item.  God is bigger than our fears and He has no limitations so why should we.  Friends, let us strive to live righteously and to go after more of God and more of life!

Alright, let’s go!!!

Until next time,

Simone

***Disclaimer:  We are to go after those things that are pleasing to God, going after some else’s possessions so that you can have more is not what I meant by going after our desires… The more time we spend with Him, our desires begin to match His and we find ourselves enjoying life without our enjoyment being at the expense of someone else. Love y’all ❤
