Hello old friends, new followers, and fellow bloggers-
Happy Wednesday! I hope you all are well. In the last few weeks, I have found it harder to focus on all that is good. We live in a time, where we are bombarded with images of fear, doubt, disappointment, and etc. A few days ago, my heart sank as I began to think of someone dear to me. This person has left such an awful taste in my mouth and the more I thought about our friendship, I began to strategize an exit strategy. Offense is taken, not given. We are often offended by behavior that we do not understand and all of those emotions come ready to distract us, to take us off course. I sat on my bed, trying to figure out what to do when Philippians 4:8 began to ring in my heart.
So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful, and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.
I felt like God was bringing me into focus to that which really matters: Him and His love for me. Everything else can fade away. When we are on the road of progression, hell distracts us with relationships. Hell sends subpar individuals who spend more time talking about having great character than actually living a character-filled life. It is the ploy of the Enemy to keep us stuck in our feelings so that we never fulfill the purpose of the Lord in our lives. This is why the first step to being victorious is controlling our thought life. Let’s bring our thoughts under subjection to the Word of God. Let us think about all that is authentic, real, honorable, admirable, beautiful, respectful, pure, holy, merciful, and kind. Let us place our minds and our affections upon Him. When I think about Him, I am more gracious. When I think about Him, I am more merciful. When my mind is placed upon Him, I am more loving. I am more focused when I place my attention on Jesus.
Distractions are easy. They come quickly and before you know it, they rob us of the future. However, we have a God who loves us so much that He’s given us a tool to move forward: place your thoughts and affections upon Him. I don’t know if my friend and I will have a conversation or if we will reconcile, however that’s not my concern for today. I’m focusing on the One who’s rich in grace and mercy and who loves me dearly. I’m focusing my attention upon Him.
Xoxo,
Simone
